IPL also serves as a way for young players to showcase their talents and make their mark in the cricket industry.

IPL fans always want to know the recent news and details related to the tournament, so it’s only natural that fresh ipl news is trending on social media. Every IPL season starts with the player auction. The IPL 2021 auction has already been completed and the season’s first match was played on 9th April 2021. This year’s IPL is set to have 60 matches in total. These matches will be played in six Indian cities, namely Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, and Delhi.

The first match to kick start this IPL season was played in Mumbai, between the defending champions and the ones waiting for their first IPL trophy, that is, between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. RCB won this match by 2 wickets, thereby clinching their first victory of this season. The Mumbai team was left hoping for more. MI scored 159/9 while RCB scored 160/8.

The second match took place on 10th April in Mumbai, between Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings. Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw’s blazing innings cleared the way for the team’s victory against Chennai Super Kings. Dhawan and Shaw scored a whopping 138 runs which made it easier for the team to reach the target score of 189. CSK scored 188/7 while DC won the match by 7 wickets with 8 balls to spare, scoring 190/3.

But as it would turn out, losing the match to DC was not the only reason for CSK to leave disappointed. After Chennai Super Kings’ defeat to Delhi Capitals at Wankhede stadium in their first match of IPL 2021; MS Dhoni, the captain of Chennai Super Kings, had another reason to be let down as he was fined Rs. 12 lakhs. This is because his team maintained a slow over-rate in the match.

An IPL media release stated that since this was Dhoni’s team’s first offense of this season under the Code of Conduct followed by the IPL relating to minimum over-rate offenses, he was fined Rs. 12 lakhs. This is a huge blow to the team and serves as a warning to prevent making the same mistake in future matches.

CSK ended up scoring 188 runs for a loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Despite the good score set by the team, they had to face loss due to Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw’s partnership of 138 runs that paved the way for DC’s victory. Dhawan and Shaw’s quick-fire fifties helped their team chase the target score for the loss of only three wickets.
